A mensagem que abaixo se transcreve refere-se à observação de um flamingo-pequeno em Castro Marim no dia 7 de Setembro-
Yesterday, when carrying out the monthly count of wetland birds in the Cerro do Bufo section of the Castro Marim Reserve, Filipe Moniz, Ray Tipper and I found a Lesser Flamingo amongst the 1,700 + Greater Flamingos that were present.
Access to the reserve is restricted but it may be worthwhile looking for this bird from the public track that skirts the perimeter of the site on eastern side.
No rings were seen on the bird but it could, of course, be an escape from captivity. It is interesting that a pair of Lesser Flamingos apparently bred this year at Laguna Fuente de Piedra in the Málaga province of Spain, which is the source of many of the Greater Flamingos that occur in the Algarve.
